The Sandiaoling Waterfalls hike  (三貂嶺瀑布群) is a trifecta to behold. This trail makes for a perfect summertime activity due to the myriad of watery pools dotting the trail. And the three impressive waterfalls (Hegu (合谷瀑布), Motian (模天瀑布), and Pipadong (杷枇瀑布) are stunning along the way. As you hike and climb your way to the top you will have some amazing views. 1. The Program The Hike

Picked up in Taipei at your hotel after breakfast (on your own) for a 50 minute drive to Sandiaoling Station. We will begin our trek with a moderate pace, weaving over streams and passing lush forests before arriving at our first of three waterfalls, Hegu Waterfall. This towering fall is in the distance a bit, but impressive in size.

Next we continue to out second waterfall, and arguably the most impressive on the trail, Motian Waterfall. This massive waterfall flows over Moon Cave, which we will traverse to get directly behind the water and photobomb the people below!

Up some ladders and ropes we go, to the top of Motian Waterfall and the base of Pipa Cave Waterfall. We will stop here, where the stream flows over Moon Cave cliff, to eat lunch, take a dip in the river and relax.

From here, we have options. A long, steep, adventurous descent down a riverbed ending in Huotong Cat Village is option one. Option two is to go the opposite direction on a less strenuous path, ending in Dahua.

After the hike and an incredible day with some of Taiwan’s best waterfalls, we will return to Taipei!
