Stegosaurus Ridge is quite possibly the finest day hike in Northern Taiwan. The knife ridge sticks out above an abandoned copper mine, the blue coastline and links up to Teapot mountain. Scrambling over the trail-less ridge line is exhilarating and challenging, with the opportunity to stand over the cliff on Buddha’s Tongue for a picture perfect moment of excitement.
Picked up from your location in Taipei at 8am, to drive roughly an hour to the trailhead of Stegosaurus Ridge. We will hike past the old abandoned copper mine, towards the trail less knife ridge that makes the trail so exhilarating. Once we arrive at Stegosaurus Ridge, we will traverse across protruding rocks by scrambling, climbing, and choosing the best looking path available. What makes this hike so exciting is the lack of a trip for much of the time spent on the ridge.
Buddha’s Tongue, a rock jutting out over the cliff, makes for a wonderful photo-op before we eat lunch and continue towards Teapot Mountain, where we descend and arrive in the old mining town of Jinguashi.
Upon arrival to Jinguashi we will make our way back to our transport and to the next destination.
