Jia Jiu Liao (加九寮) stream is perfect for beginners, and just outside Taipei in the lush jungles of Wulai. Under the green forest, full of birds, butterflies and other wildlife, the Jia Jiu Liao stream is relatively flat with gorgeous natural water slides, culminating in a big, steep, waterfall climb. A local favorite in Taiwan.
Picked up from your hotel at 9am after breakfast (on your own) and driven to Chenggong village, in the beautiful township of Wulai. This region, once classified under Japanese rule as “Savage Land,” is stunning with crystal clear rivers, lush jungle fauna, and free flowing butterflies along the way. Wulai is also the most mountainous region in New Taipei City, meaning there are ample rivers to trace!
We will hike briefly on land, to our preferred entrance in the river. Once in the river we will trace up for a few hours, scaling waterfalls, swimming in natural “Olympic training pools,” and enjoying the cool refreshing water flowing down from the mountains.
When we reach the natural water slide, we will enjoy some lunch and tea, before climbing the final, much larger waterfall.
After trekking back on land we will change into dry clothing and head back to Taipei.
