LongDong Swimming and Snorkeling
LongDong (龍洞) is one of the most famous locations in Taiwan for diving, snorkeling and rock climbing and is one of our most popular Summer day trips. Translating to “Dragon’s Cave”, the golden craggy coastline lives up to its name with its immense size and striking features. LongDong is the largest bay in Northern Taiwan and visitors come from around the world to swim with tropical fish along the beautiful sandstone. Due to a lack of shade, we highly recommend that visitors bring plenty of sunscreen and an umbrella. A tarp for shelter will be provided for you during your stay.
What to Expect?
While snorkeling, visitors can expect to spot all types of beautiful marine life, from the common Blue Damselfish to Porcupine Fish and Clown Fish. Along the coral, divers can find sea urchins, hermit crabs, and sea cucumbers. Most species of fish are not shy, as they often encounter people year round and are quite social. While some locals and visitors feed the fish, we advise that our guests refrain from doing so.
Generally, snorkeling at LongDong is extremely safe. Prior to departure, we check with the rental office on site to be sure that the weather and current is safe. Swimmers who are seeking additional safety can rent life jackets or water wings at the rental office. A TAO adventure guide will be with you for snorkeling instruction, tips, and advice on how to use your snorkeling equipment or spot certain animals. After careful instruction, anyone adventurous enough can jump from one of the natural elevated platforms into the crystal clear water below. All of our TAO guides have been professionally trained incase any unexpected event or injury were to occur.

Picked up from your location in Taipei after breakfast (on your own) at 8am. We will drive roughly 1.5 hours to the east coast of Taiwan, Long Dong Ocean park (龍洞).
Long Dong gets its name from the shape of the coastline resembling a dragon laying down. Long Dong translates to Dragon’s Cave.
We will scramble over the coastline rock formations for 20 minutes before reaching our destination. Working up a real sweat, the crystal clear ocean will feel excellent! There are hundreds of fish and underwater critters to gaze at while snorkeling, and some nice cliffs to jump off!
We will barbeque on the rocks for lunch, enjoy the sun and the sea, before heading back to Taipei tanned and tired.
*It is advised to stay out of the ocean during winter due to high tides and strong currents on the east coast
