General

The amount of people on each trip varies depending on the activity performed. Taiwan Adventure Outings takes low-impact traveling seriously, meaning that the less that we affect our surroundings the better. Generally, we limit our hikes and camping trips to ten people and two guides maximum unless otherwise stated.

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or have other dietary restrictions, Taiwan Adventure Outings is here to accommodate you. Just let us know prior to your trip and we’ll have meals prepared specifically for you.

Transportation: typically 12-passanger van

Meals: all overnight trips and most day trips, excluding meals on the road

Instruction: our well-trained staff with teach you all you need to know!

Insurance: Whether it’s a single day or multi-day trip, you will be insured.

Equipment: everything from eating utensils to rain gear, we have you covered.

Accommodations: campsite & permit fees

Taiwan Adventure Outings trips are human powered and adventure-based, therefore, we expect some level of physical exertion from all of our trips. We rate our exertion levels from painless (relatively flat and light) to challenging (steep and exhausting). It is important to consider your current level of physical fitness and any other physical or mental limitations you may have when deciding to participate in any of our activities. For clarification on any activities and the difficulty, please do not hesitate to ask.

Insurance

Taiwan Adventure Outings has accident insurance, but also suggests that all customers to purchase their own insurance prior to arrival. Customers with existing travel insurance do not need to worry.

Signing a waiver prior to any Taiwan Adventure Outings trip is compulsory for each and every expedition. When you sign our waiver, you are stating that you understand the rules and regulations of TAO as well as the fact that each trip contains potential hazards.

Payment

If Taiwan Adventure Outings receives a booking cancellation prior to the final payment date of your vacation, your non-refundable deposit will be retained. Standard cancellation fees as stated apply to all booking cancellations.

90 – 46 days prior to arrival a 25% cancellation fee will apply
45 – 22 days prior to arrival a 50% cancellation fee will apply
21 – 0 days prior to arrival a 100% cancellation fee will apply

No refunds or exchanges can be made in respect of accommodation, meals, sightseeing tours, transport or any other services that are included in the tour pieces but not utilized by the tour member.

Final payment for your booking is due 45 days prior to commencement of services. If final payment is not received by the due date, your reservation will be canceled and Taiwan Adventure Outings will retain your full deposit. Taiwan Adventure Outings is not responsible for canceled land and/or air reservations in the event payment is not received by the final payment date. If a booking is made within 30 days prior to arrival, full payment will be required at the time of booking.

All payments shall be made to a bank account to be issued to you by Taiwan Adventure Outings upon completion of reservation.

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 25% is required. Note that bookings are not confirmed nor secure until Taiwan Adventure Outings receives this deposit and you receive a confirmation invoice.

If a booking is made within 30 days prior to arrival, full payment will be required at the time of booking with the exception of same-day trips

Rain Checks

Taiwan Adventure Outings cannot be held responsible for any weather conditions preventing you from participating in scheduled trips. However, you will NOT be charged for any tours or treks that have to be cancelled due to bad weather and the management will do everything in their power to suggest alternative activities or make alternative arrangements.

Requirements

Most TAO trips are designed for beginners. However, some of our trips such as mountain biking can be extremely difficult without general the know-how. If you have any concerns, please feel free to message us.

A physical passport will be required on any trip requiring permits. This will be made clear during correspondence.

Along with the essentials (food, water, proper clothing, and toiletries), we strongly suggest bringing light, waterproof clothing as well as sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Of course, you are encouraged to bring a camera as well.

Taiwan Adventure Outings will supply much of the gear, food, and toiletries for the trip unless otherwise stated.
